The Ocean Project works to advance ocean conservation in partnership with zoos, aquariums, museums (ZAMs), and other conservation education organizations around the world. We are a small not-for-profit organization that leverages a broad partner network of around 1,500 ZAMs and other conservation education organizations to bring about positive change for our blue planet. We work to help children and parents become more interested, educated, and involved in conservation, in their homes and communities, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

No one country exclusively owns or governs Antarctica. This simple fact places the continent, its surrounding islands and oceans, and its amazing wildlife at enormous risk for environmental harm. For over forty years, the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC) has successfully led efforts to promote conservation and ensure adherence to environmental standards in the face of exploitation pressures from commercial fishing, mining and tourism companies.

The Access Fund is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment. Preserving the opportunity to climb and the diversity of the climbing experience are fundamental to the mission of the Access Fund. Working in cooperation with climbers, other recreational users, public land managers,and private land owners, the Access Fund promotes the responsible use and sound management of climbing resources throughout the United States.

NVCT is your local, nonprofit land trust that protects and preserves the natural areas that define our Northern Virginia communities. From forests and streams to battlefields and cultural sites, our region’s lands and waters are more precious than ever before in the face of a changing climate and growing pressure to develop.

More than 175 volunteers joined Rock Creek Conservancy, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), and the National Park Service to celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD) on September 28. As the signature site of thousands of NPLD events across the country, the day of service attracted an intergenerational crowd of enthusiastic volunteers. Volunteers also had the opportunity to participate in Rock Creek Park Day, an annual celebration of Rock Creek Park’s establishment on September 27th, 1890!

Alejandra Rodriguez Boughton is no stranger to resilience. She immigrated to the U.S. from Monterrey, Mexico, in 2012 to attend the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. While earning her degree, Rodriguez Boughton de-stressed by cooking traditional Mexican meals, but she struggled to find the right ingredients. She began growing the herbs, spices, and chiles that were missing from her marketplace. She wondered, if she’d been missing these flavors, maybe other people were too. As it turns out, they were.
